While using a homemade one is a good option in a pinch brands like aqua coat drydex famowood sherwin williams and many others are known to produce the top products you can pick from. I thought the oak grain on the green painted cabinets looked pretty nice. Because i was using chalk paint and wax i didn t want the wax settling into the grain so i had to figure out how to hide it. The problem with oak is it has a very deep wood grain that will show even after painting.

After doing a little research here s what i ended up doing to hide the wood grain on our oak vanities. No matter you plan to paint your oak cabinets white brown or any other color it s always good to use the right grain filler first.
